The 28 series was designed by Omer Arbel who developed a technique of glass blowing where air is blown intermittently in then sucked out of a glass matrix that is heated and cooled at regular intervals. This results in a distorted sphere with each piece being a unique shape and composition. Each one contains a low voltage (12V, 20 W halogen/xenon) or LED (12V, 0.3W) lamp. The 28 pendant clusters into a hexagonal shape; patterns dictated by the needs of the interior space. Also, they may be clustered/composed in an ambient style similar to their distant cousins the Bocci 14 series. Standard 28's are made in clear, white, and frosted glass (several other standard color schemes on the horizon) and custom color compositions available.
